Julia Schmitt, Auto Express and JET/FOX/YourErie “Good Kid” of the Week

Please join us in congratulating Julia Schmitt . She is the Auto Express KIA and JET/FOX/YourErie “Good Kid” of the week. Julia is a 12th grader at McDowell High School and she has been brightening up the days of seniors with her sewing skills . Nomination letter:“Julia loves to sew. At the beginning of the Pandemic my employer was asking for volunteers to make masks for the facility staff. Julia made a number of masks for them. One day at the beginning of summer we were talking about the Residents who live at my facility. I told her how they were lonely because they were not allowed to have visitors. She has a pattern for a cute little seal plush. So, I asked her if she thought she would be able to make 40 of them. She immediately said, “Yes”. She spent the first month of her summer vacation making 40 seals for the residents despite having many other projects that she was wanting to work on. She was a little disappointed that she could not go into the facility to present her gift. But she took it in stride. The Activity Director messaged Julia after they were delivered. This is what she said: “Hi Bonnie, we were talking about friends today, so I passed out Julia’s seals. Loads of smiles and many “thank yous” for Julia. One [of our confused elderly men] was holding his and giving it kisses! So, tell Julia THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR DAY A HAPPY ONE. “.
